The 3rd annual Lasting Hope Gala on October 2 reminded me of 1 Corinthians 12:9:
“Each time [God] said… ‘My power works best in weakness…’”
I mean, there was a harpist!
FYI - Nothing I’m a part of should be impressive enough to have a harpist serenade its guests!
The realization that Karyn and I are two completely ordinary people hit me hard at the Gala this year. Observing the full room, enjoying the live auction, and listening to Britainy Sholl eloquently share about the impact of The Forsaken Children felt surreal… Did I mention that there was a harpist there?
Can I really be a part of this?
Well, the answer to that question is yes, God has let me be a part of it. He has done some amazing things through my weaknesses and the weaknesses of all of us who are a part of The Forsaken Children.
The accomplishments of this dynamic ministry are none other than God-sized feats, and all who partner with The Forsaken Children get to be a part of all that God is doing.
I think of Nebiyu, whose story was shared at the gala. His transformation from a boy abandoned and living on the streets into the sweet and godly young man he is today inspires me so much. Knowing him since the beginning of his journey and getting to see his complete transformation, my faith is strengthened. I believe more fully that God can do anything in my own life and in the lives of the most broken children The Forsaken Children works with.
Nebiyu gives us so much to hope for… here in the U.S. and on the other side of the world in Ethiopia! Watch his testimony if you missed it or just want to see it again…
Thank you to all those who came to this year’s Lasting Hope Gala!
You helped raise nearly $25,000 for the ministry to street children in Ethiopia!
